This is a super easy dinner to throw together and really quite delicious. Just mix a few ingredients to spice up the ground turkey and make any kind of pizza you want. I like it because it’s a gluten free pizza and low carb. Each slice has only has only 3.6g net carbs, 154 calories and it’s very filling.

Low Carb Pizza

If you’ve never heard of meatza it is simply a crust made from ground meat – usually ground beef, turkey or chicken. Since meat is very if not no carb and tasty, it makes a great keto pizza crust.

There are other low carb pizza crust options too. I’ve made a cauliflower pizza crust, fathead dough pizza crust even a pepperoni pizza frittata. They also are very delicious so if you are on a keto diet and experimenting with low carb pizzas, they are worth a try. Each taste different and equally delicious IMO.

For the turkey pizza crust I used ground turkey, an egg, parmesan cheese, garlic, Italian seasoning, salt and black pepper. Note you can also use ground chicken or even lean ground beef.

How To Make Low Carb Meatza (beef Pizza Base)

To top the pizza I used a little of Aldi’s Specialty Selects marinara sauce as it’s pretty low carb. I also really like Rao’s marinara for a pizza sauce. It has the same amount of carbs and I love the taste.

Other toppings I used today are mozzarella cheese, pepperoni and bell peppers. You can use whatever your favorite toppings are on this pizza. Today I’m just showing you the concepts of a pizza crust made from meat – toppings optional.

Step 1: Preheat oven to 350°F. To make the ground turkey pizza crust, get out a large bowl  and mix together 1 pound of ground turkey, an egg, parmesan cheese, garlic, Italian seasoning, salt and black pepper.

Mix them together like a meat loaf. Cover a cookie sheet with parchment or silicon mat. Form the mixture into the shape of a pizza (oval or circle) and try to get it uniformly thin using your hands.

Step 2: Bake for about 20 minutes or until the crust is cooked but not browned. Cooking time may vary depending on how thick you make your crust. Just keep checking on it.

Step 3: Once the crust is cooked through, start adding your toppings. Use a low carb sauce, mozzarella cheese and from there add any kind of meat or vegetable you wish.

It all started with a post-it note from my coworker. After discovering that we were both on a keto diet, she scribbled down a few lines, handed me the note, and said: “Trust me.” I scanned the makeshift recipe with apprehension. A pizza made of meat? And turkey no less? I know pizza; pizza is like my family. I’ve had just about every kind of pizza imaginable, andturkey was neverinvited to the party. And a low carb pizza at that? I wasn’t entirely sold on the idea but slid the post-it in my purse to avoid hurt feelings. Several weeks later, as I was cleaning out said purse, the sticky neon paper resurfaced.

First Time Making Pizza And It's Keto Friendly With A Ground Turkey Crust!

I shared the recipe with my guy and was rushed off to the grocery store to acquire all the fixings. What I saw as blasphemy to the pizza gods, he saw as everything his heart desired — meat on top of more meat. The only other time I had seen him that excited about food was when he found out that turducken is a real thing.

We whipped it up that night and never looked back. This low carb pizzais outrageously delicious. Seriously. I slapped the post-it on my fridge after realizing the recipe was a keeper. It’s still there.

Since then, I’ve tweaked a few things, played around with the ratios, cooking vessels, and a variety of toppings. I prefer to use a cast-iron skilletto get a nicecrunchon the crust. Cast-iron skilletsget super hot and stay that way, which is great for searing meat. Since your crust is made of meat and cheese, the meat is seared nicely while the cheese crisps up.

, you can use any oven safe dish or pan as long as it has sides to prevent the grease from dripping out.

The bigger the pan, the thinner the crust and vice versa. So if you like a thin crust, consider using a pan with a larger surface area to spread out the ingredients.

Pizza! That's less than 4 grams of carbs per slice! Feel free to swap the toppings out for your own faves, just be sure to update your macros.

I like this low carb pizza better than the delivery we used to order every week! If that's not a testament to how spectacular this recipe is... then I don't know what is. You've got to give it a try!
