This homemade pizza recipe is so easy (just like BBQ Chicken Pizza!) and tastes so far superior to delivery, however, you’ll never want to go back to the frozen or delivery version again.

For the Buffalo chicken pizza dough, I like my favorite quick and dirty homemade Whole Wheat Pizza Dough, though if you prefer to swap in store-bought dough, your secret is safe with me.

From there, we slather on shredded chicken that’s been bathed in Buffalo sauce and top the whole shebang with red onions and gooey cheese.

For true Buffalo wing purists: if you like, you can top the pizza with 1 thinly sliced celery stalk prior to baking. I’ve made the pizza both with and without celery, and the crowd is usually 50/50 as to whether the celery makes the Buffalo aspect more authentic, or if it’s just weird. The choice is yours!

Pair this pizza with a dry Riesling or Pinot Grigio. It would also be especially tasty (and game day appropriate!) with a cold beer.

Up to 3 days in advance, prepare the homemade whole wheat pizza dough as directed. After rolling the dough into two smooth balls, cover and refrigerate them until you’re ready to bake.

You can also cook the shredded chicken up to 1 day in advance, using one of my easy methods (linked in the recipe card below). Refrigerate the chicken in an airtight storage container until you’re ready to prepare the pizza.

Since I am a native of Buffalo, recipes like this are what we make when we have parties or big sports weekends like the Superbowl, hockey playoffs, etc. Chicken wings go with pizza... that is just how it goes here in my hometown.

This hot wing pizza takes a little time in the kitchen, but it is such an easy recipe to make. And once you have a bite, you will be so glad you made it! It is better than a pizzeria pizza! While the chicken is cooking, make the chicken wing sauce. In a small bowl, combine celery salt, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, ground cloves, nutmeg, onion powder, and salt. Melt the butter and whisk it into the seasonings.Once everything ismixed well, set it aside.

Each pizza will use three tablespoons of chicken wing sauce combined with the hot sauce.The amount of hot sauce that you add to the chicken wing base depends on how spicy you like your food.

You will have extra chicken wing sauce.The recipe makes a batch of sauce that will be good for more than one pizza. How many pizzas you get out of the sauce recipe depends on how much you use on each pizza.

Store the extra sauce in your freezer.Pour any extra sauce into a freezer/microwave-safe container and place it in the freezer. You can also freeze it in small cubes, like Souper Cubes or an ice cube tray. When you want to use it next time, place the container in your microwave and heat it up. Heat at 20 second increments, stirring after each one, until it is a liquid. Refreeze any extra chicken wing sauce.

Rolling out the dough with a rolling pin can make the dough dense and tough.Just use your hands to pull and stretch out the dough.

Buffalo Chicken Pizza Recipe (freezer Friendly)

Parbake means to partially bake the pizza dough.Par-baking the dough is good to do with this recipe since this is a heavy and wet pizza, and it will make sure the dough is cooked all the way through.

The edges will be slightly brown, and the cheeses will be melted once the pizza is done. Let it sit in the pan for five minutes before cutting it into slices.If you like, sprinkle some chives over the pizza.

Then run a knife around the edges and use a spatula to get it out of the pan. I like to cut the pizza on either a large cutting board or a plate so I don't scratch up my pan. And using a good, sharp pizza cutter makes it so much easier to slice the pizza.

When we make this pizza, we usually make one pizza mild for my daughter and me since we prefer less heat. We make a second one with spicy buffalo sauce for my husband and son, who like a spicier pizza.

We often have leftovers since we make two pizzas, but that is okay because this is a favorite recipe in our house! Cover the leftover pizza tightly or store it in an airtight container and refrigerate any leftovers. To warm it up, use either your microwave, toaster oven, air fryer, or oven.
