Healthy

Oh hey friend you CAN lose weight and eat pizza too! In fact, when I was losing weight I never deprived myself of foods I loved. Restriction does not work in the longer term. I mean even if you restrict a food while you're losing weight, are you really never going to eat that food again? That's what you'd have to do to keep the weight off.

Healthy Pizza Recipes

I always teach my clients NOT to restrict. Instead, I encourage they look for ways to better balance pizza or make swaps that are lighter with healthier ingredients. That's what I did in 2009 and it's worked!

This yummy tortilla pizza is a healthier way to get your pizza fix. Also, a great way to stick to your healthy routine without feeling deprived or restricted. I swapped the pizza crust for a gluten free brown rice tortilla that has more fiber.

Fiber is important for a healthy diet (I talk about this in my free weight loss training) and brown rice tortillas generally have more than a white or whole wheat tortilla. I also find the flour based ones tend to have added sugar in them.

Homemade Barbecue Chicken Pizza Recipe — Eat This Not That

First, what is pizza? Carbs and fat. Probably the worse combination of food to eat if weight loss is your goal. I talk about this in detail in my free weight loss training!

Add protein protein protein! I can't stress enough the importance of protein not only for weight loss but a healthy diet. Sugar free turkey pepperoni, sugar free sausage, shredded chicken, or even grass-fed grass-finished ground beef.

Next add all the veggies! Whatever you enjoy as far as veggies, chop 'em up and load 'em up! If you can't fit it on the pizza, add a salad and eat it on the side with the pizza.

Healthy Tortilla Pizza (gluten Free, Dairy Free)

I recommend brown rice tortillas as opposed to traditional flour tortillas for a healthy, lighter and more filling pizza. They have more fiber and are hardier. Other quesadilla options I recommend are cassava flour or cashew (like Siete) or cauliflower or sweet potato ones.

As always, check the ingredients and nutritional values. Even some Paleo, cauliflower and sweet potato tortillas that I've seen have had questionable ingredients in them. Ensure the ingredients are recognizable, there's no chemicals or added sugar.

The good old traditional Margherita (or margarita) is one of the easiest homemade pizzas you can do, yet it wins every time when it comes to taste. Such an easy snack to make when you've got company or a great low calorie treat when you've got people round for lunch. To be honest, this is too good a pizza to share with friends, and at 250 calories per pizza, there's no harm in eating this one all to yourself.

It's indulgent and super cheesy, and yet it's just over 330 calories for an entire pizza. A slimmers dream, by all intents and purposes, and quite an impressive dish to bring to the table with friends over for dinner. With only 6g of carbohydrates it also fits in with a low carb diet as well as low calorie, so basically it's a super delicious, slimming friendly treat. It doesn't take long to rustle up at all, and it can serve as a great Friday fakeaway as well as many other things. Movie night? Veggie friends over for lunch? This might be your saving grace.

(Also known as 'pizza alla Jazz') This is an extra special low calorie pizza recipe, as it was made by the hands of celebrity visitor on her visit to Lo-Dough towers. Yep,  Hollyoaks star and powerlifter Jazmine Franks came to our Rochdale offices  where she rustled up her own version of a pizza for us, with prosciutto ham and caramelised onions. Not only was this a smash hit which made it into the Lo-Dough top 10 low calorie pizza recipes of all time, but it has also now been re-made a number of times by Lo-Dough fans everywhere. Suitably high in protein (28g) making it a superb post workout pizza. Not at all hard to make, and talk about tasty...great idea, Jazmine, thank you!
