One of the things we’ve found hardest whilst on Slimming World so far is the major lack of bread, dough and pastry! Before Slimming World we were big toasty sandwich, Papa Johns pizza, Greggs pasty people, yes that may have been half our problem, but we just really like bread and pastry and how easy it was to make all sorts of meals. So when I saw a Slimming World Cauliflower Pizza recipe for syn free pizza I thought it was at least worth a go, right?
I was a little sceptical of the claims that the base of cauliflower would taste anything like a traditional bread dough base, and in all honesty it doesn’t. Once cooked the cauliflower does take on a slightly chewy dough consistency but it still tastes like cauliflower. That being said, if you like cauliflower, which I do, I would still totally recommend giving it a go as I really enjoyed it.

You can top your pizza with anything you like so feel free to experiment. As you can see me and Jon split the base ‘dough’ and made 2 separate pizza’s so I could have the extra veggies I wanted and he added baked beans to his!! Yes baked beans! And he really enjoyed it too.

You will need to use your Healthy Extra A for the cheese on top (or you’ll need to syn it) and your getting in tonnes of Speed Food too. We paired it with a big leafy salad, but you could have it with Slimming World chips or wedges too.
A great recipe for a cauliflower based pizza, not quite like traditional bread dough but it's syn free and pretty darn tasty! Top your base with all your favourite toppings and enjoy your pizza with a nice salad complete guilt free!
You can top with anything you fancy, just remember to check the syns. Try making mini individual pizza's too, that way the whole family can have fun topping their own to enjoy

Give me the option of eating healthily or stuffing my face with pizza and invariably I’ll give in and do the latter, but now…I can do both because this pizza is totally syn free and even perfect for an SP day! Ideal for getting back into the swing of things in the new year it’s the ideal, low carb, alternative to greasy takeaway and that is unbeatable in my opinion!
Best Cauliflower Pizza Crust Recipe
This pizza surprised me entirely to be honest because I didn’t think I’d like it! Cauliflower is probably my least favourite vegetable and I thought that meant I wouldn’t enjoy this, but it actually doesn’t taste anything like cauliflower…who knew?!?!? Instead the cauliflower just acts like a dough, when mixed with the egg, and with the right balance of seasoning it tastes superb! What’s more is it’s actually incredibly easy and quick to make. I was under the distinct impression that it would require hours of drying out cauliflower to make some complicated dough but I had this prepped and cooked in just 30 minutes, less time than it’d take a takeaway to arrive!

One of my new year’s resolutions is to eat more speed food and this is one fantastic way to do it without feeling like you’re eating endless salads and piling your plate up with mounds of vegetables. Instead you get to enjoy a proper pizza without a single shred of guilt! Moreover, cauliflower is an excellent source of vitamin C, vitamin K, fibre and just about everything else good for you so it’s a particularly good one to be experimenting with!
This recipe is ideal for SP days, where you just eat speed and protein (along with your Healthy Extra A and two Healthy Extra B choices) because it’s a filling and above all satisfying choice! Don’t feel like you need to eat rabbit food all day when you’re doing SP, because you’ll likely get hungry and bored and that’s a recipe for failure. Keep your food choices interesting and filling and you’ll have a much better chance at an even better weight loss at your next weigh in! If you’re not sure what SP is, or need a refresher about how it all works you can read my guide to SP here.
Foolproof Cauliflower Pizza Crust
As I say, I’m trying to eat more vegetables this year because my weight loss has all but stopped and over Christmas it has gone up rather dramatically. I feel like I’ve lost my mojo and I’ve got to stop messing around now! I know that that’s something that lots of people go through after the festive period, however if I’m totally honest with myself I’ve not bee fully on plan for months. For a year now my weight loss has fluctuated within the same stone and I’ve been struggling. I have set myself three very clear goals for 2017 and one of them is to reach my target weight, hopefully sooner rather than later! I’m far too self aware to continue on in the way I am at the moment, so it’s back to basics for me and healthy, syn free and high speed meals are the best place to start!
You can top your cauliflower pizza with anything you want, I went for more veggies and kept it simple with some parsley and melted mozzarella and it was delicious. I also topped it with my Syn Free Pizza Sauce, which I always have in the fridge for just such an occasion. You can whip up the pizza sauce whilst your cauliflower is microwaving and cooling so it doesn’t add any extra time to the recipe but does add even more speed food for your meal! You can find the recipe for my Syn Free Pizza Sauce here, so I haven’t included it in detail below.

I Ate Slimming World Frozen Meals From Iceland For A Week And The Results Were Mixed
I have tried a couple of different cauliflower pizza recipes, but as most use cheese in the base, that doesn't give you much cheese leftover for your topping, especially if you are trying to keep your syns low for other parts of your day.
This works really well, obviously, it isn't super crispy, like you would expect with a proper pizza dough, but it holds together well and is super yummy once you add all your toppings.
Cauliflower is also a speed food on Slimming World, so just think of all those speed foods you are getting into your meal too.

The Best Cauliflower Pizza Crust
For toppings, you can go with my suggestion of crumbled up homemade Pork Sausage Patties, spinach, mozzarella, the yummy pizza sauce or add your own choice of toppings.
Best of all this pizza is totally gluten-free, so great if you can't eat gluten due an intolerance or allergy. It is also great for those who can't eat dairy if you skip the cheese on top.
On thing I do recommend is to make sure you line you baking tray with either parchment paper or a silicone baking mat, to ensure the base doesn't stick, this makes it super easy to flip over.
