Bread Pan Pizza Recipe

Bread Pan Pizza Recipe

An economical, easy copycat of the fan favourite Bakers’ Delight pizza bread, a much lovedlunch-on-the-run! Named as such as it’s designed to be tucked into lunchboxes and eaten at room temp rather than piping hot like normal pizza. Think: morning tea, picnics, hungry teenagers, freezer stash!

There’s a popular bakery chain here in Australia called Bakers’ Delight which sells a myriad of baked goods, ranging from sweet cinnamon buns to savoury bread rolls that are a convenient “lunch on the run”.

I’ve always wanted to recreate the fan favourite pizza breads. And noticing that the RRP has crept up to $4.90 (inflation!) was just the kick I needed to get moving on it.

How To Par Bake Pizza Dough To Freeze Or Bake Later

Rather than making individual pizzas, I decided to take the easier option of making a large pizza slab then cutting it into portions. I then went one step further and decided to use a simple cheesy muffin batter rather than yeast-based proper pizza dough which needs hours to rise.

So here it is today – my pizza bread. It’s a great one for lunch boxes or taking to places, like morning tea at work because it’s designed to be eaten at room temperature.

This is a quick pizza bread that’s based on a savoury muffin batter. Which means – no yeast, no kneading, no rise time. Mix and bake!

Easy Flatbread Pizza

The batter will be a bit lumpy, like muffin batters. Shredded cheese lumps (good!) and little flour lumps which are fine as they will cook out.

I’m going for quick ‘n easy today, so I’ve used a store bought pizza sauce. However, if you’re a better person than me, please feel free to make your own (any of the 3 options are great).

As mentioned at the top, this pizza bread is designed to be eaten at room temperature like a savoury muffin rather than piping-hot-straight-out-of-the-oven like pizza, easy to make in bulk (do 2 pans at once!) and freezes perfectly.

Copycat Pizza Hut Personal Pan Pizza

It’s about 70% cheaper than buying pizza rolls from Bakers Delight. And finally, my last effort to convince you to try this?

Recipe video above. A quick to make pizza bread, made for tucking into lunchboxes or a great savoury snack for morning tea. It's something I created as an economical alternative to pizza bread from Bakers' Delight, a popular Australian bakery chain. Use store-bought pizza sauce and pre-shredded cheese for convenience (true to name!), and whatever toppings your heart desires.

1. Baking sodacan be substituted with an extra 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder though the bread is not quite as soft and springy. (Notes in post for more info)

2. Cheese choices – Any cheese that melts nicely and has flavour works best here. I use Devondale “3 cheese blend” (mozzarella, colby, parmesan). Monterey Jack, cheddar, colby, pepper jack, tasty cheese will all work fine here.

Pre-shredded ok –Normally I am a stickler for shredding your own cheese but in the spirt of today’s recipe being a quick one, store bought shredded is fine.

3. Lining pan – single sheet covering long sides + base is enough, no need to line the short sides (as demo’d in the video).

Ceramic & glass pans will work but add 3 minutes to the bake time and they will rise a smidge less as they do not conduct heat as quickly.

Lunchbox

4. Keeps 4 days in an airtight container in the fridge, though best to eat at room temp. Freeze once cooked for up to 3 months. Unless it’s a really, hot day, it will be fine in a lunchbox from morning until lunch as the meat is cooked. Otherwise, use an insulated lunchbox!

Focaccia Bread Pizza

Raise your hand if you think I said “yes Dozer, go ahead and have a swim in that stinky golf dam filled with decaying aquatic plants. I really love how you smell afterwards!”. 😖

I believe you can make great food with everyday ingredients even if you’re short on time and cost conscious. You just need to cook clever and get creative!Bread Pizza is a quick, instant and tasty variation of pizza recipe made on griddle or tawa or pan. The bread base mimics the pizza base with veggie toppings. Of course the taste of bread pizza is different than the original Veg Pizza. In this post I am sharing two super easy ways to make bread pizza.

The recipes are easy to make for a brunch or evening snack. In fact you can easily double or triple the recipes and make for small get togethers or parties.

Easy French Bread Pizza Recipe

This recipe is one of those snacks that you can make when you get pizza cravings. You just need a fresh loaf of bread, a really good pizza sauce (I would definitely recommend a homemade Pizza Sauce) and some veggies.

Bread: You can use any variety of bread to make bread pizza like whole wheat flour bread or white bread or multi-grain bread or brown bread or wheat sandwich bread. You can even use a couple of days old bread.

Bread

Heating: Also do use a heavy tawa or pan. If you use a tawa or skillet that is not heavy, then the bread can get burnt from the bottom. Low heating is the key here as it slowly creates a nice golden crust on the base of the bread.

Base sauce: Generally pizza sauce is used to make a pizza. But in this recipe, you can use white sauce and even pesto sauce as the base sauce. The recipe uses pizza sauce. You can easily make the tomato pizza sauce at home. I have shared the recipe here – Pizza Sauce.

Toppings: For the toppings, you can use veggies of your choice. I always stick to onions, tomatoes and capsicum (bell pepper). I also like to add some olives. Sometimes I add steamed sweet corn too. You can even use baby corn, sautéed mushrooms or sautéed spinach.

1. Heat a heavy tawa or pan or griddle. Spread about ½ to 1 teaspoon olive oil on it. You can even use butter instead of olive oil. Keep the flame to its lowest. Do use a heavy tawa or pan or else the bread can get too much browned or burnt from the bottom. Also, keep the flame to its lowest when making the entire recipe.

2. Place bread slice on it. You can keep 1 to 2 bread slices at a time depending on the size of the tawa or pan. You can use any variety of bread like white bread, whole wheat or brown bread or multi grain bread.

4. Now quickly spread some pizza sauce on the lightly toasted side. For pizza sauce recipe, you can check here – Pizza sauce.

6. Then quickly place capsicum cubes. Keep the cubes small. While adding the topping keep the flame to its lowest. you can also switch off the flame when you add toppings on the pizza.

7. Now top quickly with small tomato cubes. Also, add some sliced olives. Both tomatoes and olives are optional and you can skip them. You can even add steamed corn kernels or sautéed mushrooms. Sautéed spinach can also be added.

8. Sprinkle dried herbs like oregano, basil. Also add some crushed black pepper or black pepper powder. You can even add fresh basil leaves instead of dried basil. The addition of black pepper is optional. You can even use pizza seasoning instead of adding dried herbs separately.

12. Remove with a spatula and place it on a serving plate. Sprinkle some red chili flakes or oregano if you want. Red chili flakes can be skipped also.

This bread pizza made on the griddle is a quick, easy and tasty bread snack. The bread base mimics the pizza base with veggie toppings.

The recipe is fairly easy to prepare and makes for a healthy snack if you use wheat flour bread or brown bread. It took me about 30 minutes to make these crisp veg bread pizza. The bread slices are toasted twice. So when the bread slices are getting toasted initially, you can chop the veggies and prepare the toppings.

Veggie bread pizza can be had plain or with tomato ketchup. The recipe also makes for a good snack or brunch. Skip the red chili flakes while serving to small kids.

How

1. Slice the bread into two and place them in a baking tray. You can also cover the tray with aluminium foil and place the bread slices on it. Toast the bread in a preheated oven at 200 degrees celsius for about 5 to 7 minutes or more,
