This truffle pizza gets a luxury makeover with the addition of one special ingredient: truffle oil! Combined with garlic, mozzarella, and parmesan, it’s a pizza that tops all others.
Pizza. Sure, some are exponentially worse than others, but pizza is pizza, and even the worst pizza is better than no pizza.

Well, today, you don’t have to worry about bad pizza ever again, because we’re making the most incredible fresh truffle pizza that you’ll ever try.
Truffled Mushroom Pizza Recipe
This thing is absolutely loaded with flavor by using an olive oil base, two types of cheese, garlic, and of course, truffles. Make it your own with a few ingredient variation options, and go for either a soft or crispier crust depending on what you like!
To know what fresh truffle pizza tastes like, you have to know how a truffle tastes! Truffle mushrooms are earthy-tasting mushroom-like fungi. Their flavor is more concentrated than mushrooms in a garlic-y sort of way, and they make a great addition to savory or salty dishes. In short, they taste incredible on this pizza. When the truffle taste mixes with the dough, mozzarella, mushrooms, and garlic, it’s like a flavor party!
Black truffle pizza is made “white sauce” style with olive oil and cheese (i.e. we’re skipping tomato sauce). The reason we go this route with ingredients is because these are all “milder” tasting, so they work well with the intense flavor of the truffles!

When it comes to the mushrooms, feel free to use what you have or what you like! I like to use button mushrooms, but other varieties have their pros too. Button mushrooms are easy to find, shiitake taste really great, oyster mushrooms are a fun and unique addition, and wild mushrooms are always a winner (though they can be harder to find).
The most labor-intensive part of this recipe involves cooking the mushrooms. That is to say, it’s a very easy process! We’ll start by cooking the mushrooms over medium heat with the garlic, and then we’ll assemble the pizza and bake. Be sure to add your preferred garnishes after baking and before serving to really maximize the flavor.
To begin, place a pizza stone (if you have one) in the oven. Preheat the oven and pan to 500ºF (260ºC). This is going to ensure maximum crispiness for our crust!

Step 2: Cook the mushrooms Add 1 tablespoon of the olive oil to a large sauté pan and heat over medium heat. Add the sliced mushrooms and the garlic. Cook until the mushrooms sweat out their moisture and begin to turn golden brown and crispy.
Step 3: Assemble the pizza Roll the pizza dough out onto parchment paper, and brush the top with the remaining 1 tablespoon of oil. Sprinkle on the cheeses, then top with the cooked mushrooms. Carefully slide the parchment paper and pizza onto the preheated pan. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.
Step 4: Add oil and serve Finally, drizzle truffle oil on the pizza right before serving. Optionally top with thinly grated fresh truffle for even more flavor and fanciness!
Ways To Use Truffle Oil In The Kitchen
When it comes to black vs. white truffles, black tend to have a more intense flavor while white truffles are a bit subdued. Certain dishes therefore work better with white or black depending on the ingredients!
Pizza is a recipe that has a lot of flavor on its own, so by using these ingredients (like white sauce, muted cheese, etc.) it can withstand the intensity of black truffles. Recipes with milder flavors (like popcorn) are better with white truffle ingredients!

You can absolutely add to the flavor of your pizza by including fresh truffle pieces on top. Take a peek at the photos — that’s what I did! And I can promise you, it was tasty.

Lastly, you can use an Alfredo sauce as a thicker white sauce base! This is a great option if you like a bit more sauce on your pizza or don’t want a pizza as cheese heavy.
I recommend pairing fresh truffle pizza with a veggie dish to offset the dough or an equally carb-loaded option worthy of a true pizza party! Here are some of my favorite pairing options.

If I were a betting man I would be willing to state for the record that this pizza would be a top seller in any pizza parlor! This recipe has slowly moved to the top spot after successfully perfecting my white truffle sauce.
Every Friday night in my home has been deemed pizza night. It’s the perfect meal to enjoy as a family after a long week in the office. And I find no matter what toppings I pile on, whether I keep it simple or grand, it’s always a sure winner.

If you’re a mushroom lover such as myself, the multiple varieties of mushroom combined with the rich flavors from the truffle and sauce will have you thinking about this pizza just as often as I do. A cheesy mushroom pizza has always been a favorite of mine.
Truffle, Mushroom & Burrata Pizza With Ham
Mushroom flavors can range from very mild, like a white button mushroom, to the more intense flavors you would find in a shiitake variety. For this recipe, I used a pre-sliced medley of fresh mushrooms — white button, baby bella, portabella, shiitake, and oyster.
The mushrooms are simply prepared using olive oil, minced garlic, and a bit of truffle salt. Cook them down for a few minutes and set them to the side so you can focus on the sauce.
With truffle sauce, you switch the traditional pizza sauce for something creamier and less acidic. Combine butter, flour, heavy whipping cream, parmesan cheese, paprika, black pepper, and black truffle sauce, stir, and cook for a few minutes.

I know, I know, truffle condiments can be expensive. But when you want to make something special, you can come up with an excuse to splurge a little. Am I right?
Below are the truffle condiments I use (I am not an affiliate of this brand). These can be found at your local Williams Sonoma:

The most time-confusing part of making pizza is typically the pizza dough. I highly suggest buying fresh dough from your local grocer.

Once you’ve shaped the dough, spread the truffle sauce evenly leaving the edges free of sauce. Start layering your pizza with Fontina Cheese, followed by a layer of cooked mushrooms, then the third layer of shredded mozzarella. Finish off with the remaining mushrooms. Sprinkle the parsley flakes and black truffle oil over the top of the pizza before sliding it into the oven.
